On 19th June 2025, eleven teams joined us for a 6-a-side football tournament to raise funds for FOCUS.

The Football FOCUS Fundraiser was born from the hugely-positive perception of our Walking Football tournament and fundraiser in 2023. Each team played out fantastic games at The Cedars Academy, Birstall to show their support for our work with vulnerable young people. The glorious summer’s evening showed silky skills, steely determination, and great humour.

Meet the teams!

Local businesses Soar Valley Press, Oscar Richards Estate Agents, Bond Adams Solicitors, Glenfield Electrical, and Metro Bank. Joining them were local football teams from Harchester United, De Montfort University, FC Khalsa, PTFL, and Fix Up FC. Our volunteer team got in  on the action too! The matches were expertly overseen by a team of professional referees, ably led by Lynn Meason and featuring the Premier League’s Akil Howson.

There were goals galore during 26 hard-fought matches. The Harchester United team ultimately walked away with the main trophy – presented by sponsor, Duncan Turner from Harwood HR. They were not the only winners on the night; PTFL FC bagged themselves the ‘Plate’ trophy. Other trophies included the Player of the Tournament trophy, The Golden Boot, and The Golden Glove for best goalkeeper. These were won respectively by players from Harchester United, Soar Valley Press, and FC Khalsa.

Thank you

We want to thank all of those that sponsored Football FOCUS. A huge thanks goes to Amit Ganatra from The Business Energy Savings Team. Amit was instrumental in organising the whole event and we are hugely grateful to him for his support. Other thanks goes to:

  •  Bond Adams Solicitors (sponsor of our Player of the Tournament trophy)
  • Oscar Richards Estate Agents (sponsor of The Golden Boot)
  • Anthony James Insurance Brokers (sponsor of The Golden Glove for best goalkeeper)

A huge thank-you also to all those who took part. It was a fantastic success, generating much-needed funds to ensure that vulnerable young people in Leicester have somewhere to go, someone to talk to, and positive activities to enjoy.

Keep your eyes peeled for details of next year’s event, which will be even bigger and better!
