Spring is here; what a great opportunity to get back outdoors! That is why, for our latest Focus on Business event, we invited our business partners back to our Wooden Spoon Allotment.
Our 2023 Allotment Day, on Wednesday 5th of April, marked our first business allotment day since the allotment’s grand opening in 2021.
Leicestershire business-folks joined our young people and staff for a variety of small projects to enhance our allotment. Repainting our shed. Redecorating our upturned boat seating area with a beautiful mosaic floor. Tilling and sowing spring vegetables in our vegetable patches. We were sure to keep our guests busy, with tons to get stuck into! The young people particularly loved seeding and getting the early spuds buried.
Moving into the afternoon, we opened the art tent. There participants could take a break, painting vegetable patch signs and bunting to decorate the place. Thankfully, the weather held out for the BBQ and Easter egg hunt to end the day.
Fifty-three people attended overall, including friends and supporters from KP Snacks, Metro Bank, Rotary Club of Leicester and BNI Foxes, along with members of our Focus On Business club. Many of them are looking forward to a return visit this summer to see the fruits of their labours!
