Having previously been a member of a charity in Birmingham that provided outdoor activities, which put the youngsters in a position of having to work as a team, with others that they had never met, when I moved to Leicestershire I was seeking a charity that made a similar positive difference to young people.

Several opportunities were available, but I only applied to be a Trustee at Focus because I could see that the activities it carried out on its projects fitted in with my previous charitable knowledge and with my professional skills obtained from working the last 18 years at work in the child protection arena.

I am pleased to have been accepted as a Trustee on a charity which goes from strength to strength and is now recognised within the City and the wider charitable world as providing excellent projects with excellent staff in order to enhance the lives of young people in Leicester
