Inspire residential

Inspire residential are personal development projects that are aimed at young people aged between 13 – 17, and physically or learning disabled young people aged between 13-25. They take place during school holidays and provide unique and powerful, possibly even life-changing experiences for everyone involved.

During a 6-day residential, young people work in teams of 8, alongside 4 or 5 trained volunteers. The teams undertake a series of activities and challenges. After each activity the teams review their progress and support each other to develop skills and self-confidence.

The residential gives young people the chance to take part in a range of different types of activities, including problem solving challenges, team building exercises, making a mini movie, and attending an Oscars ceremony: adventure activities, such as absailing kayaking, and focus unique dream day which provides the chance to achieve an ambition, dream or life goal.

Volunteer Support

A unique feature of these projects is the high level of support available from FOCUS trained volunteers. They are recruited from right across the community and include students, employee volunteers, former programme participants and professionals from youth workers, teaching and social care. The high number of volunteers on the project ensures that everyone receives the time, attention and support they need to get the most out of it.
